Juvederm is a gel substance made from hyaluronic acid (HA) – a naturally occuring substance that adds volume and hydration to the skin.
Where is Juvederm used?
Juvederm is often used to restore or add skin volume anywhere on the face. It can also be used for enhancing and sculpting of the lips. It’s primary function is for filling in nasal labial folds, wrinkles and facial creases.
It can also be used to hide puffy lower eyelids and be used to enhance the shape of the cheekbones.
Why choose Juvederm?
Juvederm was originally developed to replaces collagen as a dermal filler. Due to it’s gel consistency, it’s smoother than collagen making it a lot easier to shape and sculpt with while injecting. The lumpiness and irregularity of older dermal fillers are much less likely to occur with Juvederm.

How long is the recovery after a Juvederm treatment?
Most patients only experience some mild discomfort with minimal downtime. A person might have some mild swelling or skin firmness that will usually resolve in a week or less. They might also have some brusing, though this is very rare and mild, and can easily be covered up by makeup and lipstick.
How long does a Juvederm treatment take?
A typical Juvederm appointments usually takes around 30 minutes or less. The is allow for numbing injections to take effect prior to injecting the Juvederm.
Does a Juvederm treatment hurt?
In most cases, not at all, however, this is relative to a persons pain threshold – though most patients do not complain of pain. Numbing is applied to very sensitive areas including lips, cheeks and eyelids with a local anesthetic prior to applying the Juvederm.
How many Juvederm syringes will be required?
Most nasolabial folds typically require two syringes to fully correct the creases. However, one syringe of Juvederm is sometimes sufficient for mild nasolabial fold depressions.
For a lip augmentation, one syringe will usually be enough to sculpt and enhance the lips. The lip appearance change will be noticeable but subtle. Two syringes for a lip augmentation will give a more dramatic size increase and enhancement but can look overdone.
